What if My Newborn Won't Sleep for their Baby Photos?!

What if you get to my premier studio in St. Augustine FL and your sweet newborn baby won’t sleep?? Don’t panic. You are not alone in wondering this question, almost every parent is concerned that their newborn will show up wide awake or worse, screaming. The thing is, you are working with an expert newborn baby photographer here! I have tricks up my sleeve that only someone who has spent years working with babies would have and I get a personal kick out of parents who whisper to each other half way through the session that I’m their personal “baby whisperer!”. I definitely don’t keep these “secrets” to myself though, so I’ll share some with you!
I first ask parents to try and make sure their baby is awake for at least 1 hour before they come to my private studio for their luxury newborn photo session. Before we take baby photos I have you feed baby, change them into a clean diaper, and burp them. If baby is restless or grouchy then I start by wrapping them in a stretchy wrap to make them feel tight and secure and then a “pretty wrap” of your choice for texture and color. Then we do our family photo portraits or life style portion of the photo shoot.
For posed set ups with your newborn baby I have an amazing baby shusher and a vibrating pad that helps baby sleep and feel constantly secure. White noise and firm support makes baby feel happy and we can get amazing prop, posed, and sleepy baby photos.
Newborn baby photo sessions in my premier photo studio serving World Golf Village, Ponte Vedra, Nocatee, and St. Augustine are the longest sessions that I offer and can last up to 3 hours, giving us a good amount of time to relax and follow your baby’s lead. If your baby decides not to sleep but is happy, then we continue the session and get adorable shots of your baby’s eyes open and looking alert. If your baby is truly unhappy and has unseen ailments, the photographer can call the session and reschedule another appointment at the earliest availability… this RARELY happens, baby’s know when they are in good hands and Sweet Smiles Photography ensures that they are!
